Relevant drug present or driving under the influence — two different charges with very different stakes.
Keep driving for your job after a drink or drug driving conviction — must be applied for before sentence.
Keep driving through a points or high-speed suspension — strict 21-day window to apply.
Serious charges where jail is on the table — run properly from day one, in the Magistrates or District Court.

This is everything people ask us about a day at Wynnum court. If we act for you, you won’t need to remember any of it — we brief you the day before and meet you at the door.
Wynnum Magistrates Court is at 76 Pine Street, in central Wynnum on Brisbane’s eastern bayside, about 15 minutes east of the CBD — a quiet court with a couple of courtrooms. Your Notice to Appear names the court and your date.
The court’s running order for the day: every person appearing, their courtroom number and time. Your name appears on it on the day of court only, then it comes down.
A small number of magistrates sit at Wynnum Magistrates Court — you can’t choose who hears your matter, and neither can we. What we can do is know them: our lawyers appear before the Wynnum bench regularly, and we know what each gives credit for and what they expect to hear.

Anything else — the call is free: 1300 952 255, 7am–7pm, 7 days.
You’re not required to have one — but for any charge carrying a disqualification, representation makes a real difference. And the court’s duty lawyer generally cannot act for drink driving and most traffic matters, so there’s no free fallback on the day.
