Common questions
Court questions, answered
This tool provides general information about Queensland traffic law only. It is not legal advice, does not create a lawyer–client relationship, and cannot account for every circumstance. Always confirm your situation with one of our lawyers. See our Disclaimer and Privacy Policy.
How do I find out which court my matter is in?
Your court is printed on your Notice to Appear or bail undertaking. If you are not sure which courthouse that is, search its name above, or use our court finder tool to check by suburb.
How do I contact a Queensland court registry?
Search the court by name above to get its direct phone number and registry email. Registries are generally open 8.30am to 4.30pm on weekdays, though some regional courts have shorter or varied hours — always check before attending.
What is the difference between the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts?
Most traffic and drink driving matters are heard in the Magistrates Court. More serious matters — for example dangerous driving causing death or grievous bodily harm — are finalised in the District Court. The Supreme Court deals with the most serious matters of all.
Are these court details up to date?
We keep them current from the official Queensland Courts listings, but court details and sitting days can change. Always confirm with the court before you attend.
